Kremlin Announces Advancement of Partnerships with North Korea in Various Sectors

The Kremlin revealed on Monday its plans to enhance collaboration with North Korea, referred to as "our partner," across multiple sectors. This decision follows from the foundational agreements made during their leaders' rendezvous at a Russian spaceport last year.

In a display of deepening ties, President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the Vostochny space launch site, pledged support for North Korea's satellite development efforts.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov underscored the strength of the bilateral relationship: "North Korea is our closest neighbour and partner, with whom we are developing and intend to further develop partnerships in all areas." These remarks coincided with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui's commencement of a Moscow visit.

Peskov emphasized the significance of the ongoing diplomatic discourse, stating, "The visit is a development of the agreements that were reached at the Vostochny cosmodrome when Kim visited it, and based on the results of the negotiations that he had with Putin. Dialogue at all levels will continue...We look forward to intense and fruitful negotiations."

Amidst its conflict with Ukraine, Russia has been actively forging stronger bonds with nations like North Korea and Iran, a move that has stirred apprehension in the West.

Russia's use of purported North Korean short-range ballistic missiles in Ukraine has been alleged by the United States and Ukraine—a claim Russia has neither confirmed nor denied.

Furthermore, Peskov expressed hope for a prospective visit by Putin to North Korea, which Kim Jong Un has invited, stating it could occur "in the foreseeable future," although a specific date has not been set.
